Explore Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco, California

Fisherman’s Wharf, San Francisco’s most popular tourist area, is a great place to visit. It’s a wonderful spot for maritime history and a lot of fun things to do.

The Maritime Museum is one of Fisherman’s Wharf’s most well-known buildings. It is known for its distinctive ship-shaped building, as well as the many exhibits that detail San Francisco’s maritime history. This museum is open to anyone who is interested in the history of ships and their design.

You can also visit Ghirardelli’s original premises, which are located in the Wharf. Even though Ghirardelli’s world-class chocolate is no longer produced here, you can still see the origins of the Ghirardelli story and purchase chocolate from there.

The piers are where you will find many of the main attractions at Fisherman’s Wharf. Pier 45 is a lively spot where you can purchase fresh seafood from the pier. Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum also has a lot of fun. You might even see fishermen out on the water if you get up early enough. Although Pier 49 is a popular spot for tourists, it’s still used by local fishermen.

Pier 39 is another great place for fun and attractions like the Riptide arcade and Turbo ride. It’s a great place to take kids if you have them. You can also visit the Aquarium of the Bay to see the amazing marine life as you stroll through the glass-roofed cavern. Enjoy a ride on Pier 39’s two-tiered San Francisco carousel.

A visit to Fisherman’s Wharf is incomplete without taking an ocean cruise out into the bay. Pier 41 should be on your list as it is the starting point for many of the boat trips around the bay, including Alcatraz.

There are so many amazing places to visit in San Francisco, and Fisherman’s Wharf just one! You won’t want to miss out on something you really want to see so make sure you have a plan before you leave.
